Throughout the Old Testament, the people of God are called together from their tribal homelands for a specific purpose. Representatives from each tribe came whether it was Asher in the North, Simeon in the South, Gad in the East, or Dan in the West. They came together in times of battle, building, dedication and worship. Coming together was important for them to do and on January 11 it will be important for us to do.
On Sunday, January 11, we are calling all committed members and friends of Community Covenant to come together for Celebration Sunday. It is truly a day of Celebration and Commitment. It is a day of celebration because we can reflect on what God is doing and has done trhough this ministry since 1888. It is a day of commitment because we are now ready for each person to make a decision about their financial and time commitment to this ministry expansion.
Since 2001, when the first building and ministry study committees were established, progress has been made. Some have wished the progress was at a much faster pace and others have cried "Slow Down!" But now, together, we are ready to address the financial issues facing us in our ministry expansion. The building addition/remodel and staffing are the key components in this expansion. We continue to need everyone's input as we move forward. Only God knows the final outcome of this expansion but if we walk faithfully with God and are in his time, all will be done for His glory.
At our celebration meeting, our financial committee will explain the plan for ministry expansion. You will be challenged to give either a one time gift or make a monthly pledge, for up to three years. These gifts are to be over and above your regular giving. You will be given a commitment card to take home with you to record your decision. We would like all cards returned prior to your annual meeting on Sunday, February 8. In the future, as the final plans are decided on, we will be seeking your time gifts as well. Please continue in prayer as we walk together by faith.
The call is out, "Come to the Celebration!"
