“Facing A 9 Foot Foe”

There he was, standing just a few yards away. His coat of scale & armor of bronze weighed about 125 pounds. His spear had an iron point that weighed 15 lbs. He stood over nine feet tall. Most of us would have been running the other way, but David stood his ground. He shouted to Goliath and to the world ?You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied?? ?All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord?s, and he will give all of you into our hands? I Samuel 17:45 & 47.

He was facing what appeared to be insurmountable odds. No one would have given him a chance. But that was what was seen through the eyes of man, not through the eyes of God. With God the possibilities are endless. David had prepared himself by knowing the heart of God. He had spent enough time with God to know that he could do all things in God?s power. David had prepared himself daily and remembered how God had been faithful to him in his life. Whether it was lions or bears that he faced, God had walked with him each step of the way. David set the pace for all of us. As we face the Goliath?s of our life, we too can meet the situation with great courage. Building our courage comes as we meet with God each day. The strength that we acquire one day at a time builds us to a Godly strength that will help us face even the toughest situations. What made David even more exciting is that God used him because he was willing and available, not because he was big and strong. When the day was over, everyone knew that God had won a mighty victory. Are you ready to let God have a great victory through you. Take the step of faith and be ready when God calls for you to face a 9 foot foe.
