“Seek Him with all your heart!”

Remember that great game you used to play as a kid. It was pitch black outside, no moon, no lights, no nothing. Mike was it, his head was down as he counted quickly to 100. When he finally got there, sometimes counting by fives, he yells, "Here I come ready or not." Off he goes searching for us as we hide in the grass, behind a tree or in the shed. The only thing he is armed with, was the dreaded "Flashlight". Our goal was to get to the dead tree stump before the dreaded beam of light hit us, and we were declared "gotten". Mike's goal was to find us, so he "soughteth diligently." He never gave up and he checked every possible location. He looked up in the trees, under the shed, in the tall grass. He knew that his friends would hide anywhere. Spiders, worms, snakes, mice, cobwebs never kept us from a good hiding place. (That's not completely true; big spiders, huge snakes and more than two mice made us all scream. This made it easier for Mike to find us.) He was hoping that he found his buddies before they made their way to the stump. If you watched him closely (which was hard because it was dark) you would see the complete dedicated pursuit in his eyes. He was passionate about his mission.

Just as Mike was into seeking his friends, it is my prayer that you will be just as passionate about seeking God. What is great about seeking God is that he is not hiding. In fact, he gives us the promise in Jeremiah 29:13, "You will seek me and find me; when you seek me with all of your heart." Seeking God comes as we dig into his word, as we spend time with him in our quiet devotions, as we worship and listen to him. It even helps us to connect with God as we serve others. Then we get to know him better and understand his great love for each of us. I encourage you to find a Bible study somewhere at Community and seek him with all your heart. If you will plug into a Bible study this fall with a group of fellow seekers. God promises that you will find him.
