“Drivers, Start Your Engines”

The energy in the air can almost be cut with a knife. Every one from the youngest fan to the drivers in the Indy Cars is anticipating the race. Just about the time when no one can take the tension anymore the race judge announces, "Drivers, start your engines." Soon after everone is ready to go, the pace car leads them around the track to the starting line and the waving of the green flag. The race is on.

Although the scene may be a bit different, the starting of ministry every fall carries visions of that same excitement. This fall start up is a bit different. We have taken the month of September to find which car we wiant to drive. If you thought the race analogy put you in the stands you were wrong. Each one of us is a driver and has a place of ministry. The starting of Sunday school, Wednesday night suppers, music ministry, adult and youth ministries get the anticipation juices flowing.

As we get into the race we have been challenged to start our engines and look for the green flag. Let me suggest you take three actions as we start. First, pray that God will guide our teaching/helping staff and open the hearts of our adults, youth and children to his leading. Pray for opportunity to share your faith with your friends. Second, listen. Listen to God's call as you seek the place where he would have you to serve this year. God has a place for you in this ministry. Third, pass on your enthusiasm for Christ. God's love and message are contagious when we let them take hold of us. Remember the start is just around the corner. It will be exciting to see all of you on the track making a difference for Jesus Christ. May God bless you this.
